Artisan Center Theater

Dee Ann and Todd Brown founded the Artisan Center Theater in 2003, and since then it has expanded from a small, storefront theater to a 200-seat venue that can host up to 16 performances annually. The theater offers a wide variety of productions, from Broadway musicals and classic plays to original works and children’s shows, with the goal of providing a warm and affordable environment for artists and audiences.

The dedication to accessibility and inclusivity at Artisan Center Theater is one of its distinctive qualities. The theater provides sensory-friendly shows for kids with autism and other sensory issues, as well as ASL-interpreted performances for hearing-impaired and deaf people. For the benefit of the blind and visually impaired, they also provide audio description services.

The Artisan Center Theater offers workshops and classes for aspiring actors and theater fans in addition to its regular season of performances. The subjects covered in these classes range from stage combat and choreography to acting and vocal technique. Children’s theater summer camps are especially well-liked because they give aspiring actors the chance to hone their abilities and gain experience in a nurturing and imaginative setting.

The commitment to high-quality productions makes Artisan Center Theater stand out from other local theaters. The theater has a top-notch lighting and sound setup, as well as a gifted group of designers and technicians who put in endless effort to make each performance come to life. Every element of a production, from complex set designs to gorgeous costumes and makeup, is carefully crafted to immerse audiences in a different world.

The dedication to excellence displayed by Artisan Center Theater has not gone unnoticed. Over the years, the theater has garnered numerous honors and awards, including Best Community Theater from the Dallas A-List and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The American Association of Community Theatre has also commended them, and their renditions of “Les Miserables” and “Ragtime” have received national honors.

The Artisan Center Theater is dedicated to maintaining its community theater roots despite its success. All employees of the theater, including the actors, crew, ushers, and box office personnel, are volunteers. Every aspect of the theater exhibits this sense of community, from the welcoming ambiance to the camaraderie among the actors.

The way that Artisan Center Theater fosters community is arguably its most remarkable quality. Artisan Center Theater excels at bringing people of all ages, ideologies, and backgrounds together through the power of theater. This lively and welcoming community theater will make you feel right at home, whether you’re a seasoned theatergoer or a first-time visitor.
